Stop 13. Shean Bridge/Martin Valley Trail to Waterloo

History

Shean Bridge, Blarney

‘Shean’ is the Gaelic translation for ‘Old’ therefore you are standing on the Old Bridge, located at the Station Road Junction which also marks the start of the beautiful Martin Valley Trail to Waterloo, a 2.5km riverside, woodland walk leading to Waterloo Church, Gardens and Round Tower (built in 1845). Highly recommended for a leisurely stroll finishing up with a coffee or something stronger at the picturesque Waterloo Inn nestled right on the river’s edge!

More details on the walk are available here.

If you take the walk to Waterloo, come back and join us for the rest of the tour later. Next stop: see fine examples of ‘Portlaw’ roofs.
