The Pochard is a rare summer visitor and a widespread winter migrant, mostly seen between October and February.

Identification

Medium-sized duck. Males have a chestnut head and neck, black breast, grey flanks, and black rump. Females are duller grey-brown with a chestnut or pale brown breast, a pale loral patch, an eye ring, and a line behind the eye.
